It’s not Pilates, it’s Lagree.
The Method ──────
high-intensity, low-impact
The Lagree Method effectively combines high-intensity and low-impact movements. With an emphasis on muscular and core strength, balance, flexibility, resistance, and cardiovascular health, Lagree maximizes results while minimizing risk of injury.
FULL BODY, EVERY CLASS
During each 50-55 minute, full-body class, we’ll target your legs, arms, core and obliques using a variety of slow and controlled movements. Designed by a professional body builder who was inspired by the spring-based design of the Pilates reformer, Lagree fitness delivers fast results for all ages, body types and experience levels. Our clients leave every class feeling stronger, fitter, healthier, and stoked to come back for more.
how slow can you go?
Tempo is a key component of Lagree that differentiates it from other types of fitness, including Pilates. Each rep of every movement should take between 15-20 seconds to complete and it’s all about maximizing the length of time your working muscles are under tension. This slow and controlled tempo activates your slow-twitch muscle fibers, spikes your heart rate, and promotes a higher calorie burn. It’s easy to move fast, but how slow can you go?
The Machine ──────
The megaformer “Mega”
The entire workout takes place on a machine called the Megaformer that was specifically designed for this workout. Sebastien Lagree, the founder, is constantly evolving the machine and releasing new enhancements that enhance the workout experience.
The springs
The Megaformer is a spring resistance based machine, ensuring that the workout is low-impact on your joints and connective tissues. The springs allow you to maintain more control of each movement, stay engaged longer (time under tension, remember?), and easily modify the variable tension with simple body adjustments on the machine. The springs also allow for a customizable workout experience within a group class setting as they are easily adjustable.
The rest
The Megaformer features a front and back platform, a moving carriage that is attached to the springs, front and back adjustable handlebars, an elastic bungee, and two sets of cables. Additionally, there are straps and bars throughout, allowing for various hand and foot positions to accommodate every individual.
